Matilda

Matilda Is our minister of meet and greet and is often seen greeting visitors to Ballabourneen with a stick in tow and a wagging tail. Matilda is a cattle dog cross kelpie and was bought from our local RSPCA as a pup. Soon afterwards she shot into stardom in a summer catalogue for R.M Williams featuring in the new edition of Australian Winery Dogs. Matilda’s worst deed is eating a fellow wineries duck!!She is now lovingly known to them as, Mackillda! Because of her friendly nature she is often making friends with everyone she meets and especially new dogs that are visiting the cellar door.

Matilda is also well known in the area as the Pokolbin Mascot. Tragically Matilda lost a leg in a road incident almost 2 years ago and she is now a proud Tri-pawd … Matilda. During this time was in hospital for 3 weeks and the vet was harassed by locals at a nearby supermarket asking “Is Matilda ok” his reply, yes but what is this dog? Your local Pokolbin mascot!

So please come and visit Matilda whilst trying some great Hunter Valley wines and don’t forget to bring your pooch. When Matilda is not greeting people at cellar door or being a wine dog with Daniel at the winery, she enjoys long swims in the Dam and a gallop in the vineyard.

Charlotte

Is Ballabourneen's most recent addition to the doggy family. She is also a rescue puppy from Hunter Animal Rescue and is as cute as a button. Also a kelpie cross cattle, Matilda is quickly teaching her the ropes and she is a welcome but very mischievious, addition to the cellar door.
